To homeroom A-11, welcome to my music class! We have briefly differentiated between genres of music in class, and moved on to ‘Oldies’ Rock. The music of the 50’s and early 60’s featured a few basic chord progressions that appeared in most of the hits of that era. To follow up on this, we began playing guitar last week with the introduction of the G Blues progression. The 12 bar blues is a standard R & B chord pattern that is the essence of early Rock n Roll. We are also studying the ‘Golden’ 4 chords that were almost as prevalent as the blues pattern. This week, students will choose on of these chord patterns and play it in class for Mr. B. Look for play-a-long audio tracks on Mr. B’s blog sometime this week. All guitar sheets issued in class are also posted on Mr. B’s Blog.
Students were issued the assignment sheet for the Rock Biography project. Students will choose an artist that interests them. See the post below this one for a copy of the assignment sheets. This project will be due after the Holiday Vacation (2nd week of January?). There are study guides and many artist biographies on Mr. B’s blog if students (or parents) want to explore some of these artists in greater detail before choosing a topic. Finally, A-11 students should check the ‘Team 7A Music Grade’ post under the Mr. Bolduc Music Class category for specific grading procedures for this quarter long class.
